Remnant 2: How To Solve The Water Harp Puzzle

Aug 20, 2023

One of the more important bosses of Yaesha in Remnant 2 can only be reached when you solve the Water Harp puzzle by playing the right music notes.

A mechanism puzzle blocks the way to the main boss of Yaesha in Remnant 2, where you must solve the pattern of musical notes from a Water Harp to move forward. Exploring the area reveals several clues that will help even the most tone-deaf adventurers figure out the correct order of sounds that need to be played. Although the gears of the puzzle are fairly straightforward, you will have to fail first before you can find a solution.

You have to interact with the Water Harp puzzle and fail before the game will direct you to find a Pan Flutist NPC via "The Flautist" quest. This musician can be found past the Forgotten Grove World Stone fast travel checkpoint in Remnant 2, near the central section of The Lost Temple. A small boss encounter occurs here before the Flutist reveals the secret behind the Water Harp that you can use to progress.

The Water Harp has eight rows of pins that must be arranged through five unique symbols to play a select piece of music. Unlike the dial puzzles seen in other dungeons like The Lament in Remnant 2, the order matters a lot here, as individual notes play depending on how you organize various rows. Thankfully, a book close to the checkpoint shows the order of symbols matching the right-row positioning.

The gear for the Water Harp puzzle does not activate until you clear the Twisted Chantry dungeon and encounter an NPC in the Dappled Glade before returning to the Forbidden Grove.

Pulling the lever close by the Water Harp causes the music notes to play from the first row to the eighth, making sounds based on what symbol was matched to that row. You can skip a row so there is a break in the tune, which will become important for the proper pattern. The order you must arrange the rows of the Water Harp are:

If you're struggling to reason why this order is correct in Remnant 2, keep in mind that the heavy dashes in the book represent breaks in the music. Those familiar with rests in sheet music should have no problem connecting to this, but those who are confused can always listen carefully to the background noise in the area. A faint sound resembles the tune you have to play, so try and match the notes on the Water Harp to those noises.

Unlike the Cathedral of Omens puzzle solutions in Remnant 2, you do not have to wait for a Blood Moon or any other world event to bypass the Water Harp. Simply face the music, and you will solve the Water Harp puzzle in Remnant 2 in no time, which raises a platform ahead to an important Yaesha boss.
